Making a Creamy, Frothy Tea Latte

Making a Creamy, Frothy Tea Latte

with No Comments

A Tea Latte is similar to an espresso coffee latte, or even a cappuccino, for those who enjoy the creamy, frothy milk on top! They can be served hot or chilled, depending on your mood. They can be brewed using many types of tea or flavoured teas, but we would recommend using loose leaf teas to really maximise the flavour.

Learn how to brew a quick Tea Latte!

Firstly, choose your tea. If you only have some tea bags available, no problem! But ideally you should try using loose leaf tea. So, which teas are best suited for a Tea Latte?

Black Tea:

Possibly the most popular tea type for lattes, black teas can be bold and malty and are often great with milk. Earl Grey Latte and Chai Latte are a couple of well-known lattes.

Herbal Tea:

We love caffeine-free lattes because it’s a great way to enjoy one in the evening without worrying about staying up all night. Some of our favourite herbal teas to use include rooibos, chamomile or Jasmine Green.

What’s the best milk for Tea Lattes?

If you are lactose intolerant, oat milk is a good option. Or whatever milk you prefer! But for the best results use dairy milk, it often creates a richer froth. And for best results, using a proper milk frother machine creates a wonderful creamy consistency, like you get in the big coffee shops!

Tea Latte instructions…

Now you have the ingredients and equipment ready, lets get started! But before we start, we recommend brewing the tea as strong as possible for the best results.

Step 1

Steep your tea in water to get the strongest flavour possible. Some teas will take slightly longer to steep, but use your judgement to get the flavour you prefer.

Step 2

Strain the tea leaves or remove the tea bags. Add sweetener or sugar (optional) and stir it thoroughly.

Step 3

Heat and froth your milk (or milk substitute) until it has almost doubled in volume. Top the mug of tea with your freshly frothed milk.

Step 4

Sit back and enjoy your Tea Latte! For those adventurous people, perhaps top your homemade Tea Latte with a sprinkle of chocolate shavings, or nutmeg, or cinnamon… whatever takes your fancy!
