If you love milkshakes, and love tea, this is for you! And don’t worry if you are dairy free, we’ve got you covered too. With just a few everyday ingredients you can whip up a delicious treat in minutes. And to take the flavours to the next level, why not experiment with a variety of tea blends and spices using our range of loose leaf teas.
Prefer a decaf tea milkshake?
For our recipe below we are using Strawberry Cream loose leaf tea, but if you would prefer a decaffeinated milkshake, maybe use our Welsh Brew Decaf or the naturally decaffeinated Green Rooibos & Orange loose leaf tea.
Ingredients…
Your Chosen Tea
As we mentioned, we are using Strawberry Cream loose leaf tea for our milkshake. But you may prefer the classic Earl Gray tea or even a Mixed Berry tea for a fruity aroma.
Milk
We are using semi-skimmed milk to steep our tea. Of course you can use any milk of your choice.
Ice Cream
Vanilla is always a good choice! But you are free to experiment with different fruity flavours to match the tea you are using.
Tea Milkshake Instructions…
1) Infuse the milk with tea
Use a saucepan to heat your milk but not allow it to boil over. When the milk is warm add your chosen tea. Allow to steep for 5 to 7 minutes before straining the tea.
Allow the milk to cool, and then put it in the fridge for 1 or 2 hours so it is nicely chilled.
2) Blend the ingredients…
Ideally using a blender, add your tea infused milk and ice cream and blend! Of course you can add a few more ingredients if you wish, like vanilla extract or syrup to the blender.
2) Prepare your milkshake…
Pour the milkshake into your tall glasses and serve! Or add some toppings to add that special touch, maybe a sprinkle of cinnamon, a squirt of cream or some chocolate shavings?
Dairy-Free tea Milkshakes
Simply replace the ingredients for dairy free versions! Most plant based milks and dairy free ice cream will work just fine. Coconut milk is a good choice but may not work with certain flavours, so try to use a more neutral and creamy flavoured milk.
